A WORD FOR TODAY 22 OCTOBER 2020

A WORD FOR TODAY

MAKE THE CHOICE TO ACCEPT JESUS

“I came to cast fire upon the earth; and would that it were already kindled! I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how I am constrained until it is accomplished"(Luke 12:49-50)._

The narrative in the gospel reading of today could easily make someone to begin to think that Jesus is not who He said He is. He came to bring peace in the world and in His famous sermon on the mount, He tells us that blessed are the peace makers for they shall be called the sons of God.

Hearing Him say today to His disciples as we just read that He has come to cast fire upon the face of the earth is something that could make a person with weak faith to lose hope.

However, there is truth in Jesus' statement and He will never lead us astray or confuse us. We must see it as an admonition for us to take a stand with Him and continue to profess His name even if we are hated by those who do not accept Him.

We cannot stop believing in Christ, because people will hate us, instead we should make the choice to stand by Him and endure whatever we may suffer for his sake and He will reward us abundantly in the end.

We must accept Jesus and be ready to give our life for His own glory. We must not be deterred when people persecute or hate us because of our affiliation to Him. Infact, we should be happy and use such opportunity to glorify Him more, because it is bound to come our way.

When we accept Jesus our hearts will not be troubled, but if we do not have Jesus, we shall continue to be disturbed in our heart until we come to surrender to Him and let Him reign over us. Give your heart to Jesus and you will not be troubled no matter what comes your way.

Today we celebrate the memorial of st. John Paul II, Pope (1920-2005). He had an exceptional apostolic zeal, particularly for families, young people and the sick and and he paid several pastoral visits throughout the world. He gave his life for the Church and we must strive to learn from him to be the best we can be for God in the Church and in the society.

_Good morning dearest one. Smile😊as you do your work and do have a wonderful day. May Jesus help you to accept Him and to live For Him. Amen. And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Meditation: Ephesians 3:14-21/Psalm 33:1-5,11-12,18-19/Luke 12:49-53

Watch-Word: I count everything as refuse, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in Him.

People will hate you because you believe in Christ. Do not hate them back, but conquer their hate with love.
