A WORD FOR TODAY 23 NOVEMBER 2020

A WORD FOR TODAY*

*BE GENEROUS AS YOU SERVE THE LORD*

_"He looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the treasury; and he saw a poor widow put in two copper coins".(Luke 1:1-2)_

_*To be generous is to be magnanimous and liberal in giving. It means to be openhanded and munificent in sharing what you have with others.*_

_When you find one who is generous, you will definitely see a connection between the person and our Lord Jesus Christ, because anyone who follows Him must be willing and ready to give his or her best and all for His own glory._

_*Jesus used the widow in the gospel reading of today to set an example of generousity for His disciples. In physical appearance, the rich people may have given more than the widow, but her two copper coins were counted as the best and greatest gift of that moment, because she gave with her heart and she gave everything.*_

_For our gifts to have value before God, it must come from our heart willingly and without any coercion or pressure. We must make up our heart to give to God who gives us always without measuring what He gives us._

_*The rich were not commended by Jesus because they gave out of their abundance and it cost them nothing, but the poor widow gave all she had to depend on. It was a reckless and sacrificial giving and that is the best kind of giving. Real and generous giving must surely cost you something.*_

_We cannot outdo God in generousity, but we must learn from the widow to always give our best gifts to God and to others. Do not hoard your gift or become stingy and selfish. God loves a generous giver and will surely reward you when you have given your best._

_*There is need for us not to make a show of our giving just to attract attention and humiliate the one we are giving to. Just give with humility and you will receive abundance reward from the Lord who gives the best gift, eternal life. When we give generously, we shall be found worthy to be counted among those who have been redeemed by the lamb.*_

_Good morning dearest one. Smile😊as you do your work and do have a blessed new week. May Jesus give you the grace to be generous with all that He has given you. Amen. *And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.*_

*Meditation:* Revelation 14:1-5/Psalm 24:1-6/Luke 21:1-4

*Watch-Word:* These are the people who seek your face O Lord.

*Sharing what you have with others does not make you poor, rather it makes you rich and to be like Jesus who gave His all for you.*
