A WORD FOR TODAY 25 JUNE 2019

A WORD FOR TODAY

The attitude of Abram in the first reading of today is something that we should learn from. He was a good man who did not want his living together with his kinsman Lot to cause quarrel between them. He gave Lot who was his junior the opportunity to choose before him the side he want to go so that they could go their separate ways and avoid fighting each other.

We are human beings and from time to time we are bound to have issues that will cause misunderstandings among us, but how we handle it will either make it to be settled or make it to get worse. Abram's approach shows us the importance of dialogue and shifting ground in settling disputes.

In the eyes of lot, he chose the best land in the Jordan valley, while Abram chose an area that is not fruitful. However, it turns out to be the opposite, because God richly blessed Abram. God is the source of our blessings and if we remain in Him, His blessings will come to us irrespective of where we are and how the land or the things we do may be tagged unfruitful according to human assessment.

The gate and way that leads to life is narrow. We may pass through difficulties and pain in the course of following Jesus, but in the end we shall rejoice, because God will reward us immensely. Do not give up when trials and temptation come your way, remain steadfast and victory will be yours.

We should also learn to do to others what we wish them to do to us. If we need kindness, love, peace, honesty, trust and so on, we must give the same to others. We must be sensitive to the needs of others and see how our words and actions will help them to get better and by helping them we are helping ourselves to find joy and fulfilment.

Be conscious of who you are and what you represent. In this way you will not throw your pearls before swine, who will trample it under foot and attack you. Aim to be the best and to shine out as the light always and God's blessings and favours will rest upon you.

Good morning dearest one. Smile😊as you do your work and do have a wonderful day. May God's favour and blessings be upon you and may your land be fruitful. Amen. And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Meditation: Genesis 13:2,5-18/Psalm 15:2-5/Matthew 7:6,12-14

Watch-Word: I am the light of the world, says the Lord.

Listen to the voice of God and act according to His instruction and you will be blessed.
