A WORD FOR TODAY 25 JUNE 2020

A WORD FOR TODAY

LISTEN TO THE VOICE OF GOD AND DO WHAT HE SAYS

"Every one then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house upon the rock; and the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat upon that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock." (Matthew 7:24-25)

Christianity as a religion is based on the person of Jesus and the life He lived while on earth. Therefore, anyone who choose to follow Jesus, must do it in accordance to His mandate and directive, otherwise it will amount to an exercise in futility and on the last day Jesus will declare that He does not know who you are, as we could see in the gospel reading of today.

The best way to show that we love Jesus and we belong to Him is by living out what we preach. To preach about Christ is not the issue, because anyone can do that even those who do not believe in Him. To listen to God's word is also not a big deal because anyone can do that. However, the issue lies in putting into practice what we hear and what we preach. If we are unable to do that, then our Christianity is shallow and can never win a soul let alone win us a place in the kingdom of God.

To be able to do what the Lord says, we must first listen to Him and learn from Him, then in obedience to His teachings we will do what He says. When we listen to what Lord had said in the Scriptures and also listen to the authentic teachings of the Church, we will not be led astray by those who are not grounded in the faith and are fake teachers.

Jesus is the solid rock upon which we should build our faith. This is very necessary so that we will be able to stand firm when the storms of life begin to hit us. To build our faith in Him is to hear His words and then put them into practice without compromise. This is the only way to show that we belong to Him and in that way we shall never be led astray by false prophets and teachers.

Good speeches are fine and to speak eloquently and excellently are also good, however, that is not enough and a guarantee for us to be admitted into God's kingdom. We must be doers of the word. We must live our lives based on God's commandments. If we do what the Father wants we shall have eternal life, but when we fail to do what He wants, we will be taken into captivity just like Jehoiachim experienced in the hands of Nebuchadnezzar as we have recorded in the first reading of today. All we need to be able to do God's will is to be humble and patient to learn about Him and then make a firm resolve to do whatever His words tell us and in that way we shall be good ambassadors of the Lord here on earth.

Good morning dearest one. Smile😊as you do your work and do have a fantastic day. May Jesus give you the grace to put onti practice the things you learn from Him. Amen. *And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Meditation: 2 Kings 24:8-17/Psalm 79:1-5,8-9/Matthew 7:21-29

Watch-Word: If a man loves me he will keep my word, says the Lord.

Grow in your faith, feed on God's word daily and make effort to put into practice what you hear and you will be unshakable upon Jesus the solid rock.
