A WORD FOR TODAY

YOU TOO CAN OVERCOME THE WORLD

"I have said this to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)

It is a known fact that we are in the world, yes as Christians and believers, but we are not of the world as Christ has told us. Our final abode is in heaven and we are pilgrims making movement towards God. We must continue to stay focused if we must reach our heavenly home._

What the world offers to us is very different from what God has offered. The way of Jesus is quite different from the way of the world and anyone who wants to follow Christ and serve Him in truth and Spirit must be ready to part ways with the world.*_

The Christian life is a battle and only those who are prepared will definitely overcome. Jesus experienced the wickedness of this world when He was here on earth and today He tells his disciples in the gospel reading that in the world they will also have tribulation and be persecuted, but they should be of good cheers, because He has overcome the world. This means that if we remain with Him, we shall overcome as He overcame. The words of Jesus are encouraging and it is something we must hold in our heart always if we are going to be victorious in this life.

When you choose to follow Jesus, you must be prepared to face the hatred of the world. It will be a battle between light and darkness and if you choose light, you will conquer, but if you choose darkness, you will lose. The Holy Spirit will help us to remain steadfast and to discipline ourselves as we march towards heaven.

The Holy Spirit helped Paul in his proclamation of the Good News and he spoke boldly without fear as we have recorded in the first reading. We must stay close to the Holy Spirit and ask Him for the strength to continue to fight the good fight of faith so that we shall overcome. Jesus has conquered the world and we can conquer if we fix our minds on the things above and resist the temptations of the world to come and join them in their way.

Good morning dearest one. Smile😊as you begin your day and do have a blessed new week. May Jesus give you the grace to persevere so that you will overcome. Amen. *And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Meditation: Acts 19:1-8/Psalm 68:2-7/John 16:29-33

Watch-Word: Be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.

Jesus has overcome the world and you will overcome too. Just stay with Him and draw you strength of victory from Him.
