*A WORD FOR TODAY*

*CALL UPON THE LORD AND HE WILL SHOW YOU MERCY AND HEAL YOU*

_"And Jesus said to him, What do you want me to do for you? And the blind man said to him, “Master, let me receive my sight. And Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your faith has made you well. And immediately he received his sight and followed him on the way."(Mark 10:51-52)_

_*There is saying in life that if you fail to say what is wrong with you, you may not be able to find someone to help you. Whenever you go to consult a doctor over a health challenge you may be facing, it is expected that you tell him te truth so that he can prescribe the right medicine for you. But if you choose to hide anything, the doctor mat not be able to help you.*_

_Looking at the gospel reading of today we are presented with the experience of Bartimaeus who encountered Jesus and his life was changed and transformed for the better._

_*Bartimaeus was blind and he was a beggar and when he heard that Jesus was passing by, he cried out to him and pleaded for mercy. The crowd tried to shut him up, but he cried out the more with faith and his persistence paid off when Jesus stopped and paid attention to his cry.*_

_We have a lot to learn from this story. First, he recognised his need and when he saw opportunity to seek for help from the one who can help him, he did not keep silent, but cried out with faith and his voice was heard and Jesus did for him what no man has been able to do all these years._

_*Secondly, he refused to let the crowd shut him up from reaching out to Jesus. If the crowd are good enough to listen to Jesus and follow Him, then he is also good enough for that. He did not want to die in silence, but pushed hard and finally pushed through. There is power in prayer and when you pray with faith, you will be able to 'draw God's attention' to your need and you will find the help you seek.*_

_We also learn from this story, to cry out to Jesus in our times of need, for He will hear us and come to our aid. However, we must call upon Him with faith and never give up even if we are yet to receive what we have asked for. Bartimaeus continued to cry out and he got the attention of Jesus and his sight was restored. He knew what he wanted and when Jesus asked Him what He will do for him, he simply asked him to make him see again._

_*Are you in need? Have you cried out to Jesus? Are there people or things try to stop you from reaching out to Jesus? Do not stop, because Jesus can help you. He can heal you and He can make you well again. He can hear that your voice even when the crowd try to shut you up. And remember that when your persistence to cry out pays off, all those who tried to stop you from getting to Jesus will now become the messengers that will come to tell you that the Master is calling you. Your healing and restoration will surprise them and you will become a voice that will testify and win souls for Christ.*_

_As we celebrate the children's day, let us strive to continue to take care of the children around us and show them good examples that will help them to grow well and become useful to God, their family and the world. We must fight to protect them from every kind of abuse and help them to realise their potentials in this life. May God bless all the children in our world._

*Never give up, for the Lord is bear to us and He can help us, but we must cry out to Him with faith and trust. Do not let the crowd shut you up.*
