A WORD FOR TODAY 28 DEC 2018

Today we celebrate the feast of the Holy Innocents. It is the feast that honours the little infants that were killed by Herod out of rage and in his quest to destroy the new born king our Lord Jesus Christ.

Herod was bitter in his heart because of the birth of Jesus who is a king and his bitterness led him to plot to do away with the Son of God. We must as followers of Christ be disposed to accept God's will and not fight it. God can make use of anyone, but we must stop fighting the one whom God has chosen, otherwise we will be fighting God.

The action of Herod is one of darkness and it can only come from those who are not in Christ, for the Scripture says 'that those who are in Christ Jesus have a become a new creation' (2 Corinthians  5:17) God is light as we hear in the first reading of today and in Him there is no darkness, therefore if we claim to be in Him and still wake in darkness it means that we lie and truth is not in us.

When our heart is filled with darkness and wickedness, we will cause pain and sadness in the lives of other people. We will simply behave like Herod who did not want any rival and he killed innocent children who could possibly do him no wrong at their tender age.

We also learn from the message of today to let God's will be done in our lives. These little children where allowed by God to have a share in the sufferings of Christ His Son. He has the power not to let the children die, but He chose not to and we must accept it because that is His will and it is for a good cause.

God made a plan to protect the Holy Family and they were taken to Egypt until the enemy was no longer potent. We must learn to place ourselves under God's care and control so that He will defend us and protect us from the attack of those who are controlled by the power of darkness.

If you feel you have become darkness or have contributed in causing pain in the lives of others, repent of your sins, acknowledge it and confess them and you will find mercy and forgiveness in Christ who shed His blood to redeem us.

Good morning dearest one. Smile😊as you begin this day and may God defend you and fight your battle in the times of danger. Amen. And May the Almighty the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
