A WORD FOR TODAY

LIVE IN THE LIGHT ALWAYS

_"This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light and in him is no darkness at all. If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not live according to the truth" (1 John 1:5-6)_

_*Today the Church celebrates the feast of the Holy Innocents. It is the day we remember the little children that were killed as a result of the hatred of king Herod who was not happy that Jesus was born a king. They gave their lives for the sake of the new born king and we ought to always give our lives for a just cause, just as our Lord Jesus Christ will give His life on the cross for us.*_

_The story we have in the gospel reading is a very touching one and something that should move any reasonable person to action to protect the innocents who suffer for no just cause in our world and also do something to make sure that the rights of the children are protected._

_*Jesus was born the King of the universe and He is the light of the world and anyone who follows Him will have the light of life. However, the heart of Herod was filled with darkness, bitterness, selfishness and hatred and that made him to carry out this wicked act against innocent children who have not committed any crime against him.*_

_If we fail to live in the light of God, darkness will overcome us and we will begin to act wickedly against others. When our heart is filled with God's light we will love others as Jesus loved us and we shall not do them any harm, but act in a manner that will bring them joy and happiness._

_*Children in our world are precious gift from God, but they are still suffering violence today by way of slavery, trafficking, sexual abuse, exploitation, exposure to drug abuse, abortion and so on. They are weak and need our support, but if we who are to protect them fail in our responsibility and turn to harm them, then we are not different from the Herod of Jesus' time. We must strive to fight for the right of children and protect them always and we shall be the light of the world.*_

_If we have failed in our responsibility to take care of the little children around us and have sinned against them and become darkness, we must turn around, change our ways, confess our sins and come to Jesus who is the expiation for our sins snd He will wash us clean and we shall become holy and will live in the light again._

_*Good morning dearest one. Smile😊as you do your work and do have a beautiful day. May Jesus help you to be the light always. Amen. And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.*_

*Meditation:* 1 John 1:5-2:2/Psalm 124:2-8/Luke 2:13-18

*Watch-Word:* God is light and in Him there is no darkness

*Love like Jesus and darkness will not fill your heart. Live in the light always.*
