A WORD FOR TODAY

SHINE FOR CHRIST AND HELP OTHERS TO SHINE TOO

_"and let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near."(Hebrews 10:24-25)_

_*Our Lord Jesus Christ has shown us an example of what we should be doing through His actions. He gave His life for us on the cross and His blood was poured out so that we could be cleansed and have the confidence to approach the throne of God's presence.*_

_If we follow His example we must also be ready to lay down our lives for others. We must shine out in words and actions so that those who see what we do will be motivated to continue to follow the way of the Lord._

_*The author to the letter to the Hebrews reminds us to stir up one another to love and good works. For this to happen, we must not neglect the gathering of the believers, but constantly meet together to inspire each other to aim for righteousness and those things that will please the Lord.*_

_We must be ready to shine out always in good works for that is what the Lord expects of us. Jesus tells His disciples that the measure they give will be the measure they get. If you do good and teach others to do good, goodness shall be your reward, but if you refuse to do good with what God has given to you, even that which you think you have will be taken away from you._

_*When we come closer to Jesus, we must learn from Him to be the light that will help others to see Him and follow Him. We must shine as the light and help others to shine. If we all shine as the light, darkness will no longer be in the world and we will make God happy. You lose nothing when you light up others to shine as you are shinning.*_

_Today we celebrate the memorial of St. Thomas Aquinas (1225 - 1274). He was born of a noble family in southern Italy, and was educated by the Benedictines, but he decided to become a Dominican instead. He studied in Paris and in Cologne under the great philosopher St. Albert the Great. He wrote many classic works that is used in the teaching of the faith and he was a spiritual man who love God with his heart. Let us learn from him to let God always guide the decisions we make and to be ready to teach others in truth._
