A WORD FOR TODAY

ACKNOWLEDGE AND CONFESS YOUR SINS AND YOU WILL FIND MERCY FROM GOD

"We acknowledge our wickedness, O Lord, and the iniquity of our fathers, for we have sinned against thee. Do not spurn us, for thy name’s sake; do not dishonor thy glorious throne; remember and do not break thy covenant with us."(Jeremiah 14:20-21)_

Sin is an offense against God and we can sin against Hom in words and deeds and whenever we sin we break our friendship and relationship with Him. Sin brings us down and make us to be weak spiritually and we become friends with the world and lose the peace of soul that comes with being a friend of God.

The people of Israel in the first reading of today realized their mistake and they wasted no time to acknowledge their sins before God. They knew that they could not save themselves from all that has come upon them and they needed God's help.

This should always be our way of relating with God. We must not let sin take hold of us to the extent that we become comfortable with it and no longer have a detest for evil. If we are going to find mercy in the sight of God we must acknowledge our sin and confess to the Lord.

The Sacrament of reconciliation is always available for us to return back to the Lord when we have fallen down. In the confessional, Jesus is waiting to receive us through His sons the priests who are acting on His behalf. Therefore, no matter what your past has been or what has brought you down presently, you can rise again. Just acknowledge your sins, have a deep contrition in your heart, confess them and you will find mercy and forgiveness from the Lord. When last did you go to a priest for confession? Do not be comfortable in sin, go and confess your sins and you will be free and happy again.

We have been sown in the world as good seeds and we must strive everyday to bear the fruits of goodness and to live a holy life. However, if we fall into sin and begin to produce weeds, we must not give up, rather, we should repent of our sins, return back to the Lord and confess them and He will forgive us and help us to become strong again. True repentance and confession brings healing and peace of the soul therefore, always come to the Lord with a contrite heart and you will find mercy and forgiveness.

Good morning dearest one. Smile😊as you do your work and do have beautiful day. May you find mercy and forgiveness of your sins as you come back to the Lord. Amen. And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
