A WORD FOR TODAY

We all need the boldness to proclaim the message of salvation and for that to happen we must be filled with the Holy Spirit just as it happened to Peter and the other disciples in the first reading of today. By the power of Jesus' resurrection they received the grace to continue to preach in the name of Christ without fear and they won more souls to God through their witnessing.

_*We must also learn from the disciples to always pray to God and acknowledge that all we are and could ever achieve will come from Him. We must draw our strength from Him and place our trust in Him because He will never abandon us even when people try to persecute us.*_

To live the resurrection life is to live a new life in Christ. We must be born again and that is the only way we will be able to find life. We must, through our lifestyle and words show the world that we belong to Christ. Old things will pass away and our life will become brand new. We will re-dedicate ourselves in the work we do and we will shine out as God's light everywhere.

We cannot claim to be in Christ and to have risen with Him and still live our lives like unbelievers. There must be something different between us and those who do not believe in Christ. We must show the world the way to God through what we do and the way we do it will inspire others to come and follow Him.

Holiness of life should be our aim as we follow Christ and we should do our best to live for God here on earth so that we will be able to live with Him in heaven on the last day. Our eyes must be fixed on the things above and it is the Holy Spirit that will help us to achieve it. Open yourself to the Holy Spirit and you will no longer be held bound by the desires of the flesh._

Today we celebrate the memorial of saint Catherine of Siena. She was a virgin and a doctor of the Church who lived a holy life characterised by love of God and love of her neighbour. She wrote a lot of works that has continued to be a source of inspiration to many today. Let us learn from her to love God and to live for God by loving our nrighbour.*
