A WORD FOR TODAY

IF YOU LOVE GOD YOU MUST KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS

_"And by this we may be sure that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He who says “I know him” but disobeys his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him"(1 John 2:3-4)_

_*Love is not something that is hidden, it is always expressed and anyone who sees true love must surely know through its fruits. If you claim to love someone you must definitely do something that will show the one you claim to love beyond doubt that you truly love him or her.*_

_God is love and He has shown us what true love is by giving us His Son. The celebration of the nativity of the Son of God is actually a celebration of God's love to humanity. Therefore, the best way to reciprocate this love is simply to do what He wants. We must learn to keep His commandments and that will show Him that we truly love Him as we have professed._

_*When you truly love God you must strive to keep his commandments and one of the ways we will show Him that we keep His commandments is by loving our brothers and sisters here on earth. We cannot claim to love God and hate our neighbour, when we hate them it will only show that we are in darkness. Love goes with light, hatred goes with darkness.*_

_St. John tells us in the first reading of today that he who loves his brother abides in the light, but he who hates his brother or sister is in darkness already and does not know where He is going, because darkness has blinded his eyes. Therefore, our aim as Christians will always be to work in the light of Christ and do those things that will please Him._

_*We find examples of those who walked in the light of God and kept His commandments in the parents of Jesus who came to present him in the temple in fulfilment of the law as recorded in the gospel reading of today. Simeon was also an example in that light. He was a devout and righteous man. We must learn from them to love God and keep His commandments and we shall be happy forever.*_

_Good morning dearest one. Smile😊as you do your work and do have a beautiful day. May God give you the grace to show Him love by keeping His commandments. *And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.*_

*Meditation:* 1 John 2:3-11/Psalm 96:1-6/Luke 2:22-35

*Watch-Word:* He who says he is in the light and hates his brother is in the darkness still.

*love of God is shown in the love of neighbour, therefore, love your neighbour and you will fulfil God's commandment.*
