A WORD FOR TODAY 29 JANUARY 2020

A WORD FOR TODAY

GOOD SOIL, PRODUCES GOOD FRUIT

When you see farmers go to their farm to plant seeds, they first of all clear the land, cultivate it and prepare it well so that the seeds that is planted in it will grow well and bear fruits. No farmer would want to waste his time, energy and resources to plant seeds which will not bear fruits at the time of harvest.

The narrative of the parable of the sower as we have explained in the gospel reading of today by Jesus is something we must all learn from. The sower did his part by showing the seed, but the fruitfulness of the seed that was sown depended on the nature of the soil or the heart that received the word of God.

The word of God is sown on a daily basis, but for it to bear fruit in us we must have a good disposition to receive it and to let it take root in us. We must make our hearts to be fertile so that the word of God we hear can germinate and bear fruits in plenty. When the word of God dwells richly in our hearts we shall bear the fruits of love, joy, peace, empathy, justice, forgiveness, righteousness, generosity and so on._

When you develop interest and desire to hear God's word on a daily basis, you will be fed and God's word will become the food that nourishes your soul and it will also be the guide that helps you in your relationship with others.

You need to bear fruit for God and if it is going to happen, you must submit your heart to Him so that He will work on you and help you to be receptive to His Word. You can never bear fruits for Him if you let your pursuit of material things of this life be a priority over your pursuit of heavenly things.

Give a listening ear to God's word today. Create time to read, study and meditate on the word of God, then try as much as you can to put into action what you read and share same with others and inspire them to love God's word and in this way we shall bear fruits in plenty for God at the time of harvest.

Good morning dearest one. Smile😊 as you do your work and do have a beautiful day. May God's word you hear everyday help you to bear good fruits for Him. Amen. And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Meditation: 2 Samuel 7:4-17/Psalm 89:4-5,27-28,29-30/Mark 4:1-20

Watch-Word: The seed is the word of God and the sower is Christ.
