*A WORD FOR TODAY*

*IN HUMILITY, ASK FOR GOD'S MERCY*

_"And he said to him, I will come and heal him. But the centurion answered him, Lord, I am not worthy to have you come under my roof; but only say the word, and my servant will be healed."(Matthew 8:7-8)_

_*Sometimes we miss an opportunity to receive blessings and favour from people or God because of our pride. God does not refuse to answer our prayers except if we have not prayed well.*_

_The centurion approached Jesus with humility and faith and he received what he asked for his servant. He was a good man who put his high ranking status aside to seek the help of Jesus for his servant. Even Jesus was awe struck by this man's faith and he could not hide it from his disciples._

_*We cannot find mercy if we do not humble ourselves. God is ready to forgive us and heal us, but we must seek him with a humble heart.*_

_This season of advent is a time to come to Jesus with our sickness and sin and ask him to show us mercy. We must have faith in Him that He will heal us and then we should not let anything stop us from approaching his presence. He is ever ready to help us, but we must seek and desire Him with all our heart._

_*If this man had refused to stoop low because of his position in the society, we may not have seen this beautiful story of healing to tell. He was not worthy to let Jesus come into his home, but only requested that He say a word and his servant will be healed. We constantly use this phrase in our liturgy before the reception of the holy communion. How do you connect to it and what meaning does it make for you personally.*_

_This season of Advent is a time to find God's mercy. We shall flow to the Lord's mountain as Isaiah said and we shall be taught His ways. Jesus is waiting for you, call upon Him with faith and He will help you._
