A WORD FOR TODAY

FIGHT THE SPIRITUAL BATTLE WITH THE RIGHT WEAPON

"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil."(Ephesians 6:10-11)_

Battles are fought in life with different weapons and any nation that has the best weapons and tactical personnel to manage those wespons will most likely win the battle.

_Today, St. Paul gives us an insight into the spiritual battle and how to win it by making use of the spiritual armour from God. If we, who are soldiers of Christ will be able to come out victorious in this spiritual battle, where we are not contending against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers and spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places, we must put on the whole armour of God and fight with the right weapon, for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God in pulling down strongholds.(2 Corinthians 10:4)_

_*We must put on the belt of truth, and when this is on us, we will not be bound by any force in chains because the truth shall set us free. We are also to put on the breastplate of righteousness. This will help our defence line to be unbreakable. Righteousness will make us strong and no one will be able to destroy us. We must be holy and live a good life and we will be able to positively touch the lives of those who are yet to come to know God.*_

_Our feet will have the sandals that symbolises our readiness and willingness to preach the gospel of the Lord in words and deeds. We should never stop growing in faith, because that will be our shield against the flaming darts of the evil one which comes in various forms; temptations, manipulation, deception e.t.c_

_*We must put on the helmet of salvation. It must be in our hearts confidently always that we have been redeemed by Christ and as such we are saved and we shall no longer go back into slavery. The sword of the Spirit is the word of God and if the word of God dwells richly in us, we shall definitely overcome the forces of evil in the world.*_

_Finally, the greatest weapon of our warfare is prayers. We must pray constantly with faith for ourselves and for others and we will be able to overcome whatever that comes our way. A Christian who cannot pray and pray well cannot be a winner in this spiritual battle. Therefore, stay alert, be conscious of this battle, but do not be afraid, for with God by our side and in His name, we shall overcome and conquer._

_*Jesus is our solid rock and he trains our hands for war and prepares our fingers for battle. When we are in Him, we shall have the courage to stand against every form of oppression and wickedness as He did to Herod in the gospel reading.*_

*Never stop growing in your faith, because it wi be useful for you to conquer the challenges of life. If you fight the battle with the wrong weapon you will fail, but if you use the right weapon you will succeed.*
