A WORD FOR TODAY 3 OCTOBER 2019

A WORD FOR TODAY

PROCLAIM THE GOOD NEWS ALWAYS

The first reading of today from the book of Nehemiah is very inspirational to anyone who wish to follow God and to serve Him. The people gathered together at the square and Ezra opened the book of the law and read from it and all the people bowed down in adoration and blessed the Lord. They obeyed the instruction contained in the book of the law of and God blessed them.

The Word of God gives life and brings joy and peace to the heart of anyone who reads, studies and meditates on it. If we are going to be good disciples of Jesus we must create quality time to feed on the Word of God to nourish our soul and when we have done that we shall have the strength, wisdom and knowledge to be able to share Him with others.

In the gospel reading the Lord appointed seventy others and sent them out to go and preach the Good News. They were labourers sent into the vineyard of the Lord to win souls for Him. The Lord said to them, the harvest is indeed plentiful, but the labourers are few, pray therefore the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into His harvest.

By virtue of our baptism we have been called by Christ to proclaim the Good News. Although there are priests who are specifically called and chosen to become missionaries, there are also those who become missionaries by praying and supporting those who are on mission. The mandate to proclaim the Gospel is for all and we must continue to do it so as to win more souls for the kingdom.

In order for us to proclaim Christ well, we must make effort to know Him by studying the Scriptures. We must spend good time with Him and that will help us to be grounded in our knowledge of Him and we will be able to show others the way and path that leads to life.

We must totally depend on Him who has called us as we go on this missionary work. We must not set our minds on material acquisition, but focus on proclaiming Christ alone at all times and in all places. We must stay focused, because heaven is our goal and we should never allow anything in this life to distract us and make us not to reach our goal. We are working for Jesus and He shall reward us at the appointed time.

Today we celebrate the memorial of saint Therese of Lisieux (of the Child Jesus) She was a Virgin and doctor of the Church. She was a discalced Carmelite nun who devoted her life in being Childlike and this lead her to give us the little way to heaven, that is, by doing the little insignificant things in a manner that pleases the lord. Let us learn from her to desire holiness of life and to always pray and support missionaries even when we cannot actively go on mission.

Good morning dearest one. Smile😊as you do your work and do have a great day. May the Word of God nourish your soul and give you the strength to proclaim Christ everywhere in words and deeds. Amen. And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Meditation: Nehemiah 8:1-7,12/Psalm 19:8-11/Luke 10:1-12

Watch-Word: The precepts of the Lord are right, they gladden the heart.

The Word of God nourishes us and gives life to the soul. Feed on it everyday and you will never be the same again.
