A WORD FOR TODAY

STAY STRONG AND REMAIN STEADFAST, THE STORM SHALL PASS

"And the Lord blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning; and he had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand she-asses. He had also seven sons and three daughters."(Job 42:12-13)_

As we come to the end of the book of Job, we see how God blessed him and restored all he has lost as a result of the tragedy that struck him. He remained faithful and God answered His prayers and gave him much more than he had before.

This reading should be words of comfort and encouragement to all those who may be passing through different forms of challenges and difficulties in their lives. Sometimes it will look as if God has abandoned us, but that is not the case, because He will never abandon those who put their trust in Him. He is always with us in good and bad times.

We need to learn from Job to remain steadfast and strong and to place our trust in God. Have faith in God and do not let your trouble push you to denounce him or abandon Him. God's time is the best and when it comes, nothing can stop you from achieving what He has destined for you.

The God that blessed the latter days of Job to the extent that it became more glorious than his beginning is still alive and He can do same for you if you stay strong and do not give up on Him. Wait upon Him in prayers and remain hopeful, for He shall wipe away your tears and restore your joy.

Just like the disciples in the gospel reading, you will come back to the Lord and give thanks for what He will do for you and your testimony shall resound to the utmost bounds of the earth. By His power and authority you shall conquer all that life will throw at you, because you have placed your trust in Him.

Today we celebrate the memorial of saint Theresa of the child Jesus (1873-1897). She lived her life in humility, simplicity, self- sacrifice and boundless love for God. She assisted the church's priests and missionaries with prayers and sacrifices. Let us learn from her to always be at the service of God in our neighbour.

Difficulties will surely come, but if we trust in God and depend on Him, we must surely overcome.
