A WORD FOR TODAY

Today we celebrate the feast of Our Lady, Mother of Africa. This is a feast that reminds us of the dedication of our Mother land Africa into the Immaculate heart of our Lady. As She took care of Jesus, our continent is placed in her hands so that she will take care of us and the challenges we are experiencing.

Our Mother Mary is the greatest intercessor we have and what concerns us is always paramount in her heart. The first reading of today shows how she stayed with the apostles at the upper room in one accord, praying together. Her presence was a great comfort to them and when she is around us she cares for us and protects.

Our Mother Mary always leads us to Jesus when we come to her and we can see that in the gospel reading of today how she played a role by her intercession to make the miracle at the wedding feast to happen. She selflessly lobbied for the good and joy of the celebrants even when they were not aware that they were on the verge of being embarrassed by the lack of wine. She asked the servants to do whatever Jesus tells them. If we love our Lady and follow her example, we must do whatever Jesus tells us and be obedient to Him.

She was selfless and considerate and she saw the need in the lives of the celebrants and she did something to help by bringing it to the attention of Jesus the miracle worker. When we consecrate ourselves to her maternal protection and patronage, She is always ready to help us and make us become joyful again.

The Church in Africa needs her maternal intercession, the families in Africa needs her. We can learn a lot from her when we let her be our Mother also. She is humble, she is prayerful, she is peaceful, she is considerate, she lived a holy life and she never abandoned her God given mission. We must learn from her to always follow Jesus and to do whatever He tells us to do.

Good morning dearest one. Smile😊as you do your work and do have a blessed day. May you experience God's miracle through the maternal intercession of Our Lady, Mother of Africa. Amen. And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
