A WORD FOR TODAY

GIVE LIGHT, NOT DARKNESS

As a child growing up, I still vividly remember how we shout in the streets when light is restored after some days of darkness by the company responsible. We feel happy, joyful and cool when there is light than when the whole area is covered in darkness. Although we have continued to hope and pray for a day when we shall have uninterrupted and steady power supply in our country, it has not happened yet, but we shall continue to be hopeful anyways that one day it will happen of the necessary things are done by those responsible.

Jesus reminds us in the gospel reading of today that we are the light of the world and we must share the light we have received from Him with others so that they will see through our light. We must not share or give darkness, but light to those we encounter in the course of our work and activities.

God has blessed us immensely with the gift of light through His Son our Lord Jesus Christ and if we love Him, we must be ready to speak, work and act as children of light and in that way every darkness around us will be dispelled.

Do not be stingy in sharing with others what God has given to you as gifts, for the measure you give will be the measure you shall receive. If you are generous and share God's light with others through your works, He will give you more gifts and you will do greater good in His name, but if you are stingy and fail to share with others, you will even lose the little you think you have.

Why refuse to share what you have with others where you know that it is actually a gift to you from a generous God. If you want to have more, you must be ready to give more and spend your life for others and in that way you will shine as the light of the world and many will come to follow the way of Christ through your good works.

Good morning dearest one. Smile😊as you do your work and do have a lovely day. May God's light shine in your heart and may you share this light with others. Amen. And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Meditation: 2 Samuel 7: 18--19,24-29/Psalm 132:1-3,5,11-14/Mark 4:21-25

Watch-Word: The measure you give, will be the measure you shall receive.

Let your light shine always through your words and actions and you will be making the world a better place.
