A WORD FOR TODAY
Today we celebrate the Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord. It is the day remember that forty days after the resurrection, Jesus having finished His mission on earth, ascended into heaven where He is seated at the right hand of the Father. This Solemnity highlights the greatness of God who sent His only begotten Son on a mission of redemption and having accomplished His mission, Jesus now returned back to the Father, but He will still come again to judge the living and the dead.
This is part of the creed of our faith and we must believe it and live it out on a daily basis as true disciples of Jesus. He returned back to the Father, but He is still with us because he told His disciples not to depart from Jerusalem until they have received the Holy Spirit. He is still with us in the Holy Spirit and His work of salvation will continue. We must believe it and we must practice it and allow ourselves to be used as messengers of this divine message and mandate.
We are assured by the virtue of Christ's ascension that if we live our lives well here on earth by keeping His commandments, we shall come to live with Him in heaven and share in the eternal banquet of the Lord. This means that we must stay conscious and focused that this world is not our home, but we are pilgrims here on earth, that our final home is heaven, but it is for those who have made sincere and honest effort to keep God's commandment.
Heaven will be our home if we work hard for it. All that is required of us is to live like Jesus and to aim to be like Him to all men and women on a daily basis. We must strive always to be good, holy, merciful, peaceful, gentle, kind, honest, faithful, humble, obedient and meek. We must be ready to lay down our lives for others as Christ laid down His life for us.
We must continue to do the work of Christ under the guidance of the Holy Spirit until He returns to take us. He has sent the Holy Spirit to lead us in our work as messengers of the Good News. We must never slack but remain resolute to let the world come to know Christ through our proclamation and witnessing with our lifestyle.
The Church must continue to carry out the mandate given to her by Christ to go and make disciples of all nations. Jesus will always be with her and will guide her in all that she does. We are children of God in the Church and we must proclaim Jesus everyday without fear. For when He returns in glory, He will reward us for all our good works and sacrifices and will take us to come be with Him in paradise where He has gone to prepare for us. Therefore, keep working for Christ for your time of reward will definitely come.
Good morning dearest one. Smile😊as you do your work and do have a glorious day. May the grace of this solemnity come down upon you in abundance and help you to continue to excel in the practice of your faith. Amen.
And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
