A WORD FOR TODAY

SAY YES TO JESUS AND HE WILL USE YOU FOR HIS OWN GLORY

Today we celebrate the feast of the Apostle Andrew. He was one of the twelve and a brother to Simon Peter. He was a fisherman by profession and he devoted his time and energy in doing his work, because he believes that hardwork will put food on his table. He diligently did his work and was very good at what he does. .

However, it was not long before our Lord Jesus Christ sought him out with his brother Peter as we see in the gospel reading of today. When they heard Jesus' invitation to come follow Him, they did not hesitate to leave their nets and boat and followed Him to answer the higher call of becoming fishers of men.

Saint Andrew said yes to Jesus' invitation and he left everything behind and followed Him. He knew that Jesus is calling him for something greater and he held nothing back as he gave himself in totality to the proclamation of the gospel message. He dedicated his life to his work and He won many souls into God's kingdom and in the end he paid the supreme sacrifice of martyrdom.

No matter the vocation or profession you have chosen in life, you must never forget that it is God who has called you to use that channel to proclaim the Good News. You must say yes to all that He requires of you to do and you must live your life in a manner that will inspire others to come to follow Him.

To say yes to Jesus is to surrender ourselves to Him and let Him make use of us in the areas where He knows we are going to bear much fruits. We must not refuse to say yes, because that will amount to being stagnant and unfruitful. If you submit to Him and let Him make use of you, everything will go well and you will receive eternal reward in the end.

To say yes to God, you must be ready to let go of every other thing that may stand as an obstacle to you in the course of your living out your life as a true disciple. Saint Andrew left family and profession and became a channel through which God's goodness and greatness is transmitted. We can do the same if we submit to Jesus and let Him reign in us.

To say yes to Jesus is to be ready to let Him use you as He pleases. You will go where He wants you to go, say what He wants you to say and do what he wants you to do. You will no longer live as you want to live, but as He wants you to live.

Saint Andrew was sent by Jesus and He proclaimed the Good News and many came to believe in God. We must learn from Him to become preachers of the gospel not just in words, but more importantly through our actions. We must show Jesus to the people and we must let them encounter Him and come to believe in Him.

Good morning dearest one. Smile😊as you do your work and do have a splendid weekend. May you say yes to Jesus' invitation and may He use you to do great and wonderful things in our world. Amen. *And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen

Meditation: Romans 10:9-18/Psalm 19:2-5/Matthew 4:18-22

Watch-Word: Their voice has gone out to all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world.

There is much you can do for Jesus if you say yes to Him and let Him make use of you for His own glory.
