A WORD FOR TODAY 31 DECEMBER 2020

A WORD FOR TODAY

END THE YEAR WELL, AND BEGIN THE NEW YEAR AS THE LIGHT

_“All things were made through Him, and without him was not anything made that was made. In him was life and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it.”(John 1:3-5)_

_*As we end the year 2020 today, we must take a little time to do some evaluation, assessment and introspection to find out where we did well and where we need to work upon in our attitude and behavior so that we will continue to be the best for God as we progress into the year 2021.*_

_St. John tells us in the first reading of today that it is the last hour and that the antichrist will come and so many of them are already with us. Therefore, we should be careful not to be led astray by them, instead we should remain in the light and continue to profess the truth._

_*GRATITUDE:* Inspite of what the year 2020 has been, we must strive to end it well. We must be grateful to God for making it possible for us to see the end of this year and for keeping us alive. It is God's grace that has helped us and we must give praise to Him._

_*HUMILITY AND FORGIVENESS:* In humility and sincerity acknowledge your sins before God, confess them and ask for forgiveness. Try as much as you can to let go of any grudges you bear in your heart for anyone, forgive them too and also ask forgiveness from those you may have offended. This will make you to have peace of soul and tranquility of heart as we transit to the year 2021._

_*STAY AWAY FROM THE ANTICHRIST:* The antichrist is anyone, anyplace or anything that makes you not to seek the face of God and move you to act against His commandment. Be on your guard and stay awake so that you will not be led astray._

_*BE KIND AND SHOW SOME LOVE:* To shine as the light which we are in Christ, you must be ready to love others as Christ has loved us and then do good to those who come around you, especially those who are poor and in need of assistance._

_*SHINE AS THE LIGHT IN 2021:* As we enter into the New Year, make a resolve to walk in the light of God. We are God's children and His Spirit is in us, we must strive to show the world who He is through our words and actions. The Lord will lead us into the new year, we must strive to live for Him so that in the end we shall inherit eternal life in His kingdom._

_*BE PREPARED TO BEAR WITNESS FOR CHRIST:* We must be ready to bear witness for Christ as we go into the new year. Do not let anything stop you from proclaiming His name through the things you do and say. Strive to be the channel through which many will come to know Him._

_*Good morning dearest one. Smile😊as you do your work and do have a wonderful day. May Jesus lead you safely into the New Year and may good things come your way. Amen. And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.*_

*Meditation:* 1 John 2:18-21/Psalm 96:1-2,11-13/John 1:1-18

*Watch-Word:* The light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it.

*Stay focused as the year ends, move into the new year with a renewed vigour to do more good with your time here on earth.*
