A WORD FOR TODAY

God is good, and anyone who follows Him must also strive to be good. God is light and those who come to Him must aspire to be the light in the world. We should not hide ourselves, rather, it should be our desire always to represent Him fully in this life._

God did not create us to just live in the world without making any impact. If we profess His name we must be ready to show the world through our words and actions that we truly belong to Him.

There is also need for us to work together as people of God to help one another as the first reading tells us. we must consider how to stir up one another in love and good works. This simply means that my light should be able to light up another person in goodness.

We gain nothing by becoming selfish, rather we should spend our time more in trying to make the name of the Lord be known. The world needs our light to follow the path of life and we must not fail to give it to them.

Therefore, if your light is burning brightly, make sure that you light up others around you in goodness so that their light will burn also and the world will be rid of darkness.

Today we celebrate the memorial of saint John Bosco. He was born into a peasant family, but he studied and became a priest and devoted His time to the care of the young. He lit so many lives by His way of life and that should always be our desire.
