A WORD FOR TODAY

CALLED TO PROCLAIM THE GOOD NEWS

_"And he called to him the twelve, and began to send them out two by two, and gave them authority over the unclean spirits. He charged them to take nothing for their journey except a staff; no bread, no bag, no money in their belts; but to wear sandals and not put on two tunics."(Mark 6:7-9)_

_*Anyone who follows Jesus must be prepared and ready to work for Him. The work we do for Him is to go out and proclaim His name with words and with good deeds.*_

_In the gospel reading of today we see how Jesus called the twelve and sent them out two by two to go and proclaim the Good News so as to win souls into God's kingdom. It is a serious mission and anyone who will accept it must be prepared._

_*The twelve have been with Jesus and they have experienced His power and glory and now He sends them out with authority to go and speak the word in His name for the salvation of souls. Jesus called and gave them the power and authority, they did not call themselves, but they answered the call and were willing and ready to be used by Jesus as agents of evangelization. They must collaborate and support each other so that their mission will bear fruits.*_

_The reason He asked them to take nothing for their journey is for them to be focused on their mission and not be distracted. Too much load and baggage slows us down from doing God's work as it should be done. They must be detached from the things of this life if they are going to do it well. They should only take what is needed and totally depend on God who will make provisions available for them when it is needed._

_*We must be ready to go out and proclaim Christ as the twelve did. They touched lives through their proclamation and we could do the same if we devote time to the task of evangelization. We must make use of our office, school, shops, church, homes, gatherings and so on as platforms for proclamation of God's word. We must also be ready and offer prayers to support the ministers of the gospel so that they will remain focused and committed to their mission.*_

_We must bring Jesus to the people on a daily basis. A daily encounter with Jesus the mediator of the new covenant will give us all the strength and power we need to be able to touch lives and do exploits in His name. There is no time to waste, now is the time to proclaim God's kingdom, do it well and your reward will come at the end of time. Amen._

_*Good morning dearest one. Smile😊as you do your work and do have a splendid day. May your commitment to win souls for Christ bear abundant fruits. Amen. And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.*_

*Meditation:* Hebrews 12:18-19,21-24/Psalm 48:2-4,9-11/Mark 6::7-13

*Watch-Word:* The kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.

*The mission of proclaiming God's kingdom is for all, we must be ready to bring Christ to the world.*
