A WORD FOR TODAY 5 JULY 2019
A WORD FOR
When you receive God's grace and blessings in your life, you are bound to give thanks to God who is the source and author of every good gift that comes to us. Matthew was a tax collector who is seen in the eyes of the people as a sinner and when Jesus gave him invitation to come follow Him, he left everything and followed Him.
Matthew invited Jesus to his house for dinner and Jesus went because it will be an opportunity for Him to win more souls to God. God has given him mercy and forgiveness and he was grateful to God and called a dinner to give thanks and show appreciation.
We experience God's love everyday in our lives and we also find mercy and forgiveness from Him. Jesus through his actions shows that He has come to save the sinners and help them to come back God. He never came for the righteous but was near to sinners and helped them to find salvation.
We must learn from Jesus to be merciful to others also and help them to come to find mercy in God. We should not discriminate or isolate those who are weak and are yet to come to know who God is. We must show them love as Christ has shown us and we will win them over to the Lord. Jesus in His humility went to the house of Matthew and for us to win souls we must humble ourselves and show them the light through our words and actions.
God can save whoever He wants to save and the best thing we can do for ourselves is to allow God to make use of us as He made use of Matthew to propagate the Good News. We may be weak and sinful, but when God calls us and we respond, He will wash us clean and make use of us for His own glory.
