A WORD FOR TODAY 5 May 2021

A WORD FOR TODAY*

*KNOW THE TRUTH AND TEACH THE TRUTH

_"If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you will, and it shall be done for you. By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be my disciples."(John 15:7-8)._

_*We are constantly enlightened through the word of God and God speaks to us so that we may be in the light and act as His children bearing good fruits that can stand the test of time.*_

_However, it is always very important to strive to know the truth of what we believe, so as to be able to teach the same to others. If we fail to know the truth, we will be in error and when we teach people in that state we shall lead them astray and it will bring confusion to the believing community._

_*This is what we see in the first reading of today, some men started teaching that one cannot be saved unless he is circumsised according to the law of Moses. In order not to be in error in defense of their faith, Paul and Barnabas were sent to Jerusalem to consult the elders. The apostles under the leadership of Peter convoked the first council of the Church and deliberated on the matter in order to resolve the confusion.*_

_There is always need for you to reach out to those who know better than you to help and guide you as you grow in faith. It will help you not to be in error in your teaching. We must constantly learn from the sound and authentic teaching authority of the Church and not just teach what we think or how we feel that the gospel message should be interpreted._

_*In order for us to know the truth, we must Abide in the truth. Jesus is the vine and He is the truth and if we come to Him, we shall know Him and we will be able to teach others about Him without being in error.*_

_If we Abide in the truth we shall be able to bear fruits for Him and people will know that we are Jesus' disciples through what they will see in us. This will also help us to ask and be able to receive from the Lord._

_*We must also be disposed to be disciplined by the Lord so as to be able to continue to bear fruits for Him. The Father prunes every branch that does bear fruit so that it may bear more fruit. The discipline we receive from the Lord does not kill, instead, it chisels away sinful habits and strengthens us spiritually to continue to shine as the light and ambassadors of the Truth in our world.*_

_Good morning dearest one. Smile😊as you do your work and do have a wonderful day. May Jesus help you to Abide in Him and to bear fruits in plenty for Him. Amen. *And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.*_

*Meditation:* Acts 15:1-6/Psalm 122:1-5/John 15:1-8

*Watch-Word:* The branch cannot bear fruits unless it abides in the vine.

*Strive to know Jesus and you will be in the truth when you teach others about Him.*
