A WORD FOR TODAY

TAKE YOUR CASE TO JESUS WITH FAITH AND HE WILL HELP YOU

_"That evening, at sundown, they brought to him all who were sick or possessed with demons. And the whole city was gathered together about the door. And he healed many who were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons."(Mark 1:32-34)_

_*Many times in life we are confronted with various challenges that often seem to be bigger than what we could handle by our own power and strength and it breaks us apart and if we do not hold ourself together it could lead to moments of depression, lamentation and pain.*_

_In the first reading of today Job cried out to God about the pain and suffering he was experiencing. It was too much for him to bear and he was almost giving up, but he held himself together and sought the face of God who came to his aid and changed his lot._

_*In the gospel reading we see the people call upon Jesus to come to their aid because of the various trouble they were passing through. Jesus became a blessing not just to the household of Peter, but to the entire city. Psalm 50:15 "Call upon me in the day of trouble and I will deliver you and you shall glorify me." Philippians 4:6 "Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known to God."*_

_We must learn to call upon God in prayers, not just when we are in trouble, but in good times and in bad. He is close to the broken hearted as the responsorial psalm tells us and He will heal and bind up their wounds and restore their joy._

_*After Jesus had finished healing the people, He rose up in the early hours of the morning and went to a lonely place to commune with His Father in prayers. The power of the quiet hour when you commune alone with God in prayer can never be exchanged for anything else. Prayer is the master key that opens every door, therefore, if Jesus could value prayer as something necessary, then why can't you pray. Spend some quality time in the presence of God and you will come out to be a blessing to the world just like Jesus. Do not be a hit and run prayer person, but commune deeply with God in faith and you will see things turn around for you.*_

_Like saint Paul in the second reading we must be ready to proclaim the gospel to all men and women in our world so that through us they will come to encounter Jesus who will heal, restore and give them salvation._

_*The readings of today are words of encouragement to all those who are passing through difficulties and challenges in life. It may be sickness, oppression, injustice, emotional pain and hurt, marriage and family issues, pain of the loss of a loved one, disappointments, failure in business and projects, unemployment, depression, physical and spiritual attacks, lack of faith and commitment to spiritual activities, financial or academic problems and so on. We must never give up, but invite Jesus to come to our aid and He will do for us what He did for them.*_

_We must also learn to do for others what Jesus has done for us. As Jesus is helping us to get better we must make ourselves available to be at the service of others. Jesus spent Himself for others, He was always ready to help at the expense of his time for rest. We must do the same and in the end we will find eternal life._

*What God cannot do does not exist, call upon Him with faith and you will find the help you need.*
