A WORD FOR TODAY 7 MAY 2020

A WORD FOR TODAY

BE HUMBLE AS YOU WITNESS FOR JESUS

"Truly, truly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master; nor is he who is sent greater than he who sent him. If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them" (John 13:16-20)

When you hear a humble person speak and act, you will know, and if you hear a proud person speak and act, you will also know. Actions of pride and humility are not hidden, but could be seen, however, if you are going to be like Jesus, you must choose to go the way of humility than the way of pride, because that is the way of life and anyone who acts in humility will be able to spur the heart of the people to turn to God.

Jesus gave his disciples an example to follow as we have recorded in the gospel reading of today. It is an example in humility, He washed their feet and he said to them, 'a servant is not greater than his master, nor is he who is sent greater than he who sent him'. This simply, is a message in humility. He is reminding them that the work they are going to do must be done in humility.

They have been mandated to proclaim the Good News, but if their message is going to bear any fruit, they must be humble in their presentations and in the manner that they bring it to their audience. A humble soul can win over to the Lord a hardened heart.

Humility is a virtue that helps us to be like Jesus and if we are humble, we are going to proclaim the good news in a manner that will be pleasing to the lord and we must witness about Jesus with humility, because we are going to bring ourselves down to serve the people just as Jesus came down to serve us. The message we carry is from the Lord and we will deliver it with a heart full of humility, if it is going to make any impact in the people.

Saint Paul in the first reading continued to witness for Jesus with humility after his conversion. He went to different places and was not ashamed to suffer for the sake of Christ. This is our mandate also, we must proclaim Christ, but we must put on the garment of humility. This will help us to love others as Jesus loved us, we will be compassionate and kind in words and deeds and we will also be ready to suffer for the sake of the Master who has shown us what it means to be a disciple.

The way of humility is the way of the cross and it is the way of love. If you witness for Christ, you must be ready to carry your cross and follow Him. You must lay down your life for others and through the sacrifices you make, people will come to believe in Christ. Therefore, do not brag about anything in this life or become proud because of the gifts you possess, instead, in humility continue to use these gifts which God has given to you freely to win souls for Him everyday through your good works.

Good morning dearest one. Smile😊as you d your work and do have a splendid day. May Jesus help you to be humble in words and deeds and may you win souls for Him. Amen. And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.*_
