*A WORD FOR TODAY*

*LIVE OUT YOUR BAPTISMAL PROMISES WORTHILY*

_"John answered them all, I baptize you with water; but he who is mightier than I is coming, the thong of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie; he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire."(Luke 3:16)_

_*Today the Church celebrates the feast of the baptism of the Lord which marks the end of the Christmas season and the beginning of the ordinary time of the year. Jesus was Baptised at the river Jordan not because He has any sin, but simply to identify with our humanity and to fulfill all righteousness.*_

_The Sacrament of Baptism is one that all other sacraments are anchored upon. To become a member of the body of Christ and of the Church, one must be Baptised and this will give us access to other Sacraments and it will help us to live out our faith fully as children of God._

_*This feast is a reminder to us that we have been consecrated to God by virtue of our baptism and as such we must live a holy life for God and strive to be faithful to our baptismal promises of rejecting Satan and his empty promises, believing in the Blessed Trinity, in the holy Catholic Church, communion of the saints and life everlasting life.*_

_Our baptism in Christ launches us into the role as ambassadors for Him. We will become His voice, eyes and legs. We shall go in His name and we shall touch lives positively as He has commanded us. Our duty will be to proclaim His name and to draw people into His kingdom._

_*Jesus was Baptised and it marked the beginning of his mission of proclaiming salvation. The voice of the Father vouched for Him in the gospel reading. It is a great testimony of who He is and what He has come to do. We are told to listen to Him. Therefore, if we are going to live out our baptismal promises well here on earth, we must hearken to the voice of Jesus and follow His lead.*_

_Jesus has come to be our comfort in this life as the first reading tells us. He is also the channel through which God's mercy and salvation has been poured out upon us as the second reading reminds us. It is our duty then, to listen to his voice and follow Him and in that way we shall be ready to enjoy eternal life with him in heaven._

_*If you are baptised already, live a good life as a Christian and not like an unbeliever. If you are not yet baptised, take a bold step today and go and enroll as a catechumen and learn about God and the faith through Catechism and Catechesis and you will be nourished in faith to become a true child of God and of the Church.*_

_Good morning dearest one. Smile😊as you do your work and do have a beautiful Sunday. May God help you to live out your faith in a worthy manner. Amen. *And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.*_

*Meditation:* Isaiah 40:1-5,9-11/Psalm 104:1-4,24-30/Titus 2:11-14;3:4-7/Luke 3:15-16,21-22

*Watch-Word:* You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased

_*Live your life well in God's presence and He will be pleased with you.*_
