*A WORD FOR TODAY*

*WORSHIP THE KING WHO IS YOUR LIGHT*

_"Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, saying, Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we have seen his star in the East, and have come to worship him.”(Matthew 2:1-2)_

_*Today the Church celebrates the Solemnity of the Epiphany of the Lord. It is a day Jesus was was revealed and manifested as king to the world and the Magi came from the East to worship Him and present gifts to Him.*_

_Jesus was born King and He will have the mission to save His people from sin and reconcile them with the Father. He was not born in a palace, but in a manger. No one expected that, but that is how he came and He will go on to suffer and die on the cross for the sake of our sins, but will rise from the dead, ascend into heaven and resume His seat at the right hand of the Father._

_*His birth and coming into the world brought the light that dispelled the darkness of the world. Therefore, since we belong to him, we must hearken to the voice of Isaiah in the first reading. We must Arise and shine for our light has come and the glory of the Lord is risen upon us. Jesus is our light and we shall walk in his light as we move in in this new year.*_

_When Jesus was born, His star was seen in the East by the wise men and they made a journey following the guidance of the star until they came to where Jesus was born. They worshipped Him with joy and offered gifts of Gold, showing he was a king, Frankincense, showing he was a priest and Myrrh, showing he was going to die for the salvation of the world._

_*Today we are called to prostrate before the Lord and adore Him. We are called to listen to His voice and follow His guidance as we journey through this new year. We must let Jesus be our star and the light that will lead us in this new year and we must offer Him the gift of our heart so that He will reign in us and bless us immensely._

_*The wise men listened to God's voice, they let the Holy Spirit be their inspiration and they were not led astray by the pretence of Herod. If we listen to the voice of God and stay close to His heart, we will not be led astray by other voices that will seek to possess our hearts and lead us astray*._

_Now is the time to Arise and Shine, because Christ our light and glory has come. Rise up from everything holding you back and move forward. Offer the Lord the best gift of your heart, time, energy, resources, diligence and commitment and let Him be the one to take care of you and guide you in the path of righteousness and peace as we go through life and all its challenges._

_*Good morning dearest one. Smile😊as you begin your day and do have a beautiful Sunday. May Jesus walk with you and bless you in this new year. Amen. And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.*_

*Meditation:* Isaiah 60:1-6/Psalm 72:1-2,7-13/Ephesians 3:2-3,5-6/Matthew 2:1-12

*Watch-Word:* All nations on earth shall fall prostrate before you, O Lord.

_*Jesus is our light and if we walk with Him, we shall not wander into darkness, but we wi shine as the light everywhere we go.*_

(January 2nd, Solemnity of the Epiphany of the Lord.)
