A WORD FOR TODAY1 FEBRUARY 2021

*A WORD FOR TODAY*

*BE STRONG AND LEARN FROM THE HEROES OF OUR FAITH*

_"They were stoned, they were sawn in two, they were killed with the sword; they went about in skins of sheep and goats, destitute, afflicted, ill-treated—of whom the world was not worthy—wandering over deserts and mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth."(Hebrews 11:37-38)_

_*The readings of today teaches us a lot about faith and what we should do to grow in it. In the first reading we are presented with the experience of those who walked with God and served Him with faith. They were great men and women, they passed through various challenges, but they never abandoned God, instead they held unto Him with faith and professed His name.*_

_The narrative is about how they never stopped trusting God and proclaiming His name even while they faced torture, death, affliction, imprisonment, incarceration and so on. This is to teach us steadfastness in faith. They were ready to suffer for the sake of God and in the end they became overcomers._

_*Anyone who choose to follow the way of God, must be prepared to pass through the challenges of life. Difficulties are bound to come, we must bear our cross knowing that God will not abandon us, but will always come to our aid to help us gain victory over the situations that confront us.*_

_In the gospel reading we see how the coming of Jesus brought about the deliverance of the man with an unclean spirit. He had been held bound by forces beyond his control, but when Jesus came, He had to set Him free and he now became an instrument of evangelization and a teacher of the faith._

_*There is a price to pay in following Jesus. If we must serve Him, we must be ready to let go of our attachment to the material things of life. They were not happy that they lost their swine, but the loss of the swine cannot compare to the salvation of soul that the man received when Jesus arrived.*_

_You must sacrifice and give up something inferior in order to gain something superior. To serve Jesus and proclaim His name is our mission, however, for this to happen we must constantly aim to grow in our faith and we have great men and women of faith who have come before us that we could learn from. Do not stop proclaiming Christ even when you face persecution, because Jesus will not abandon us, but will come to our aid as He did for the man with the unclean spirit._

_*Good morning dearest one. Smile😊as you do your work and do have blessed new day, splendid new week and a magnificent new month. May Jesus come to your aid and turn things around for you. Amen. *And may the Almighty God bless you: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.*_

*Meditation:* Hebrews 11:32-40/Psalm 31:20-24/Mark 5:1-20

*Watch-Word:* Be strong, let your heart take courage, all who hope in the Lord.

*Jesus is our sure help in our times of need. Come to Him today with faith and you will find the help you need.*
